On To Happier Things

Okay, so we've been super stressed, we had the meeting, and things are (mostly) working out again- whew!

Time for the happier stuff.

Recently I was asked (again) :) what we "need" in way of things for the baby.

Well, Pete and I (with the help sometimes of the parents) have been slowly accumulating things like clothes, cloth diapers, etc. for the baby, but there are still things we haven't been able to get to yet.

Some of these are "needs", some of them are more "wants" that will make life with a newborn (while running a daycare) much, much easier.

So, for those interested
(especially the ones that have specifically been asking us or asking about us),
here's the list of items we're still working towards
(these aren't in any particular order however):

*A baby hammock (rather than a mechanical swing) for times when, due to caring for multiple children, either our baby or a daycare baby can't be in-arms. This one is nice (and also expensive, unfortunately). But, this is the main idea we're shooting for anyway.

* A carseat/stroller "travel system". I'm so bummed because I was really really hoping that Graco/Target would still carry the "Classic Pooh" design by the time we had our baby,
but no. :(
Anyway, the "Melbourne" design is nice too
(our goal is to get all of our baby stuff in gender neutral prints so we can use it to infinity-
well, okay, just until we're done having kids).
:)

* We also need to get a second carseat base for Pete's truck.
(Obviously, a carseat is at the top of our priority list at the moment- since we can't actually take the baby home until we have one!) :)

* A rocking chair is also important- we're going to have the baby's bed in our room with us for quite a while (remodeling always gets in the way, doesn't it?), so we'd rather rock & soothe the fussies out in the bedroom in the middle of the night, rather than walk all the way to the other side of the house where our only other rocking/easy chair is. It's all about minimizing the sleep deprivation! :)

* A Moby Wrap. This has a double use for me, as it will also be a great help in holding and caring for daycare babies as well as our own
(although I'm sure I'll be using a "front carry", not this "back carry").
A sling or a wrap is such a great help when you're running around after multiple children- and I like the way this one distributes the weight across all of your back, not just your sholders!
I'm not sure what color to choose yet-
although I'm always a fan of red. :)
At this point, just getting one is the main concern- not the color.

* Obviously, baby clothes appropriate to the season in which the baby comes home is a must. We have a few things, but not a lot at this point, since we don't yet know what season it will be. We do know, however, that most of what we buy we want to be "gender neutral" (at least for the first few months)- if we get a girl though, I'm going to have to get a few cute & frilly things.
;)

* And, as I said before, we're still working on buying cloth diapers a little at a time. Why cloth? Because we can use them over and over- free diapers for any kids we have past the first! Yay! :D

* And, a baby bath tub. We chose one on our registry- but really, a bathtub is a bathtub is a bathtub- right? We just need to make sure we can keep the little bumkin clean. :)

And, so for the moment, that's what's topping our "Baby To Do List"- a list that's getting checked off rather slowly at the moment (at least, until the paychecks start coming in regularly again).

Other miscellaneous odds and ends (like sheets, blankets, toys, bibs, etc.) are on our registries-
which makes them much easier to keep track of!

We registered at these great places:

- The Stork Wearhouse
- Target
- Bumkins
- Nicki's Diapers

So, thanks to those of you who've asked- we really appreciate your interest in us!
Hopefully, this post can answer those questions.

:)
